Rome Renaissance Festival Demo
Date added: May 27th, 2008

Date: August 23rd & 24th, 2008
Time:10:00am to 5:00pm both days
Location:Toccolana Club
1412 E. Dominick Street
Rome, NY 13440

The Shire of Coppertree has been invited to participate in the Rome Renaissance Festival, sponsored by the Kingdom of Newgarrd. The Kingdom of Newgarrd is a self motivated, self sustaining, small group of people with the desire to (within bounds) enjoy the "attempted" recreation of what life may have been like in the middle ages. With a selected reenactment period between 800 and 1600 AD, Newgarrd citizens work to create period garb, study period weapons, common use items of the day, foods, caste and station history/differences and work to apply their knowledge at public events. Although considered barbaric to some, most believe the selected period to be exciting and even romantic.

For leadership Newgarrd has a King and Queen, but also has a fully functional Council of Barons that share in the making of Kingdom decisions and is backed up by a finely detailed set of rules and guidance publications. Recommendations or "proposals" are always brought before the full Council so all Citizens have a voice in the Kingdom. As a whole, the goal of Newgarrd is to have fun with their interest in history and reenacting for children and families.

The Shire of Coppertree will be representing the Society for Creative Anachronism and hosting a tourney field for SCA combat and fencing, as well as arts and crafts demonstrations. We are looking for Scadians to help support this demo.

There will be a $5.00 per day site fee. Camping is available on a first come, first serve basis. Merchants are more than welcomed. For merchant fees and deadline please contact: LCANFIELD@romerenaissacnefestival.com. There will be a dinner (banquet/in garb) on Saturday evening, prepared by the Toccolana Club. Pre-registration is required, and the fee is $15.00 per person. To let us know that you are coming, please contact Logan Lockley.

The Shire of Coppertree will be one of many historical, medieval recreation groups invited to participate. Wear your good garb, come out and show off your stuff..
